N-DEFINITE!

Leadership is forever! You never stop learning, so you never stop influencing others. God’s calling on your life is INDEFINITE!

I once heard about a pastor who had been struggling with his calling to the city he was in. The church was struggling, his family was struggling, and he was considering leaving to pursue something else, but the Holy Spirit would not let him go. After much prayer, the idea came into his spirit that he had not totally committed himself to the people and the town, and that’s why he had been spinning his wheels, because he was leaving the back door open in case he wanted to leave. He decided to go buy a cemetery plot to be buried in as a lifetime faith commitment to his calling to that city. His ministry turned around, the church grew and he became an influential leader there. HE CLOSED THE BACK DOOR.

And when they had entered [the city], they mounted [the stairs] to the upper room where they were INDEFINITELY staying–Peter and John and James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas [son] of James. Acts 1:13 AMP

Jesus had told the apostles to go to Jerusalem and wait for the Holy Spirit to come. They camped out in the upper room. They had no time frame, so as far as they were concerned that’s where they were planted for the long haul. When the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, it changed everything, and the early church was born. Had they not followed the leadership instructions and committed themselves INDEFINITELY, where would we be today? Once you are called as a leader, you might as well get with the program, because that calling isn’t going anywhere, but you are!

What back door do you need to close?
